The concept of Skywave Communications was launched in the 1980’s as a two person operation. Elizabeth Patterson utilized her financial knowledge and abilities to control all of the company’s administrative functions from a home based office in Rochester, NY. Ellison Patterson Jr. employed his technical expertise to manage Skywave’s daily field operations. Skywave’s first “shop” consisted of a storage warehouse along with a meticulously customized trailer used to travel to all job sites. In the early days, Skywave provided system integration and repair services to local public safety organizations within the Monroe County, New York region.
The Pattersons were able to successfully expand their operations and incorporate the business in 1998. In 2002, Skywave Communications, Inc, was designated as a Specialty Subcontractor to Motorola Solutions. Skywave Communications, Inc., subsequently obtained the Motorola Elite Service Specialist certification along with Certified Service Center accreditation. Our Corporate headquarters is now located at 51 Goodway Drive in Rochester, NY. An extensive staging area, installation and repair garage along with a reception area, conference room and administrative offices are housed within the physical headquarters. The organization has also grown to include a team of highly skilled, qualified, knowledgeable and experienced people working together in multiple functional areas. Skywave is also able to provide its exceptional services to agencies throughout the nation.
